GRANITE CITY - Charlee Schwaller is one of the key players for the girls' soccer team at Granite City High School, and the junior striker is also the leading scorer for the Warriors as the season is ready to turn into the stretch drive.

In a 3-1 loss to Edwardsville on April 23, 2026, at Gene Baker Field, Schwaller had the Warriors' lone goal, but it was a spectacular one, indeed, as her shot deflected off the far post and into the net from distance to give Granite a much-deserved goal, a reward for the team's hard work throughout the entire match against the Tigers.

Schwaller is a Stillwater Senior Living Female Athlete Of The Month for the Warriors.

It was her team-leading eighth goal of the season, and she now has three assists for 21 points to go along with it. in a post-match interview. Schwaller described the play as a climax to a good passing play.

It was a punt from our goalie, Katie (Gartner), Schwaller said. "I headed it, and flicked it off to Lucy (Klumpp), and passed it to (Aubree) Briggs, and she played me in. I shot from the upper 90," she said with a laugh and smile."

"Our team works hard, and we give our all out there," Schwaller said, "even despite the score."

Her goals and ambitions for herself and the Warriors haven't changed since the start of the season.

"Obviously, go to the regionals and win that," Schwaller said. "Maybe go to state, and have us a good season overall."

And things will be very different for Granite this postseason, as they'll compete in Class 2A for the first time, instead of Class 3A, where the team has been for many years. Schwaller agreed it'll be a far different experience competing in Class 2A, and it's
