ALTON - Edwardsville’s offense erupted early and never let up Tuesday, April 28, 2026, as the Edwardsville Tigers defeated Alton 14-0 behind 17 hits and a six-inning shutout from pitcher Marley Fox.

Edwardsville opened the scoring in the second inning when Fox grounded out, bringing home a run. The Tigers added another in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly by Audrey De La Torre Cruz to make it 2-0.

Edwardsville broke the game open with five runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-0. Maksine Straub tripled to drive in a run, Fox and Sophie Antonini each singled in a run, and Lily Stone homered to center field for a two-run shot.

The Tigers added seven more runs on seven hits in the top of the sixth. Brooke Burris and Antonini each singled in a run, Marissa Wiley tripled to drive in another, an error brought home a run, Straub doubled to score two, and Savanna Lewis singled in a run.

Fox earned the win, allowing three hits and no runs over six innings while striking out eight and walking one. Muscarella took the loss for Alton, going three and two-thirds innings and allowing seven runs on nine hits with no strikeouts and one walk.

Straub led Edwardsville with three RBIs from the No. 7 spot and went 3-for-4. Straub and Antonini each had three hits. Amelia Wilfong, Burris and Stone collected multiple hits.

Edwardsville also ran aggressively, totaling seven stolen bases. Wilfong and Antonini each stole multiple bases. The Tigers did not commit an error in the field, with Straub recording the most chances at nine.

Izzy Hernandez led Alton at the plate with two hits in three at-bats.
