Jerseyville Public Works crews have been cleaning trees, limbs, and other debris from city streets and rights-of-way following heavy storms the previous day, April 27. Street sweeping machines will also be running over the next few days to handle any smaller remaining debris.
Public Works Director Bob Manns announced at the April 28, 2026 City Council meeting that Jerseyville residents are allowed to dump any tree limbs and debris from the recent storms at the city burn pit, located just outside of Jerseyville at the intersection of East Spruce Street and Cherry Lane. The gate to the site will remain open each day until next Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Any residents unable to haul and dispose of their own storm debris can call City Hall at 618-498-3312 to make arrangements for a Public Works crew to pick up their pile until May 6. Manns said a sign-up sheet is also available at City Hall for residents to request curbside pickup.
