CHICAGO – This week, the Illinois Accountability Commission, established by Governor JB Pritzker, concluded its final two hearings, presenting evidence from its investigation into the conduct of federal agents during Operation Midway Blitz. Witnesses described military-style tactics from federal agents, including tear gas, pepper spray, and identity-concealing masks, that brought chaos to Illinois communities.
The findings of the Commission make it clear: Operation Midway Blitz terrorized our communities, disregarding the law in the process.
While Gov. Pritzker is demanding accountability, MAGA extremist Darren Bailey has cheered on what Trump unleashed on our communities, even calling for soldiers to be sent into our streets.
In response, JB for Governor campaign spokesperson Alex Gough released the following statement:
“If you’re going to lead this state, condemning violence by federal agents against Illinoisans is the bare minimum. Darren Bailey can’t even pass that test. Darren Bailey would roll the red carpet out for the kind of brutality that Donald Trump unleashed in Illinois during Operation Midway Blitz.”
While the federal government evades responsibility and transparency, Gov. Pritzker is demanding answers and accountability. Darren Bailey, meanwhile, would welcome it all back. He not only endorsed Trump’s immigration enforcement tactics but also called him a “man of integrity” and said he would be “honored” to receive his endorsement. Illinois families deserve a governor who will put their safety ahead of loyalty to Trump.
