ALTON – Centerstone is marking Mental Health Awareness Month with multiple upcoming events across the Southern Illinois region:
Step Into the Conversation: You Are Not Alone
Centerstone is honored to host an official Mental Health Awareness Month Proclamation Reading alongside the unveiling of “The Weight of the Shadow” a powerful sculpture by artist Ariana Berman and commissioned by Lucas McKenney that represents the unseen emotional burdens many carry.
This piece is more than art, it’s an invitation to pause, check in, and start conversations that matter. Because sometimes, a question as simple as “Are you okay?” can change everything.
Lighting the Way for Mental Health
On Friday, May 8, join us for a community event at Tower Square Plaza!
The event includes a community resource fair from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., offering opportunities to connect with organizations offering mental health services, support and resources. At 4:00 p.m., the reading of a Mental Health Awareness Month proclamation and the lighting of Tower Square Plaza will recognize the importance of mental health in Marion.
Community partners who are interested in participating in the resource fair are invited to contact Director of Community Relations, Aaron Seibert at aaron.seibert@centerstone.org.
Hope Starts Here: Food, Mental Health, and Community Support
Join Centerstone and the City of West Frankfort as we come together to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month and support the well-being of our community.
On May 15, we will be unveiling a new outdoor food pantry and expanding access to food and essential resources for individuals and families in need. We will also be honoring Mental Health Awareness Month and reaffirming our community’s commitment to mental wellness with an official proclamation reading.
How You Can Help
Make a difference by bringing a non-perishable food item, hygiene product, or cleaning supply to help stock our new outdoor pantry.
Parking Information
Please avoid parking in the empty lot next to our office, as it is not owned by Centerstone. We appreciate your cooperation.
