WOOD RIVER — Freeburg broke open a scoreless game in the third inning and went on to shut out the East Alton-Wood River Oilers 10-0 on Wednesday, as East Alton-Wood River struggled to keep pace.

Freeburg first got on the board in the third when Sutton Freimuth homered to center field to score two runs.
Aubrey Waeltz earned the win for Freeburg, allowing five hits and no runs over seven innings. She struck out seven and walked four.
Ellie Beachum took the loss for East Alton-Wood River. The right-hander went seven innings, allowing 10 runs, seven earned, on 12 hits. She struck out eight and walked one. Beachum also led the Oilers at the plate with two hits in four at-bats from the leadoff spot.
Freeburg finished with 12 hits. Clara Rebstock and Waeltz each had three hits, while Demi Hopkins added two hits in four at-bats. Freimuth, Kylie Whitten and Rebstock each drove in two runs.
