ALTON - Sarah Boyd has always loved working with kids, so education was a natural pathway for her.
Boyd teaches at North Elementary School in the Alton Community Unit School District #11. This Teacher Appreciation Week, she is thankful for the opportunity to engage with students and help them grow.
“I love watching kids learn!” she said. “There is something rewarding about knowing that, as a teacher, you touch kids’ lives in ways beyond what you teach in class. I love seeing past students and hearing how good they are doing!”
From a young age, Boyd knew she would end up in a profession that allowed her to engage with children. Teaching was an easy choice when it came time to make decisions about her future.
She loves being around young kids and supporting them in her classroom and beyond. She might only work with a child for a year, but her care for them extends beyond that. Boyd tries to keep up with her students and support them even after they “graduate” from her class.
It can be difficult to navigate students’ personalities and behaviors, especially because every child has different needs and experiences that they are bringing to the classroom. Boyd works hard to manage these challenges while also pushing her students to do their best. She has struck a balance that works for her and her students.
Beyond her time at school, Boyd enjoys being with her own kids, shopping, traveling and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals.
She loves working with students and is proud to have built a career around helping kids learn. Her students are certainly just as thankful for their time with her as she is for her year with them.
“My favorite part of teaching is seeing those ‘ah-ha’ moments when students realize they understand!” she shared. “I have always loved working with kids. This profession has allowed me to do this.”
Thank you to Sarah Boyd for your work as a teacher!
