EDWARDSVILLE - Colbee Molina loves watching her students achieve their goals.
Molina is a special education teacher for third through fifth grade students at Woodland Elementary School in the Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7. This Teacher Appreciation Week, she is proud of the work she does to support her students and hopeful that she can continue to be an encouraging role model in their lives.
“I wanted to provide a welcoming and positive environment to students. I had such a positive experience in school growing up and I wanted to be a positive experience in other students’ lives,” she shared. “My favorite part is building relationships with students, their families, and my coworkers. I think relationships and getting to know those around you help make a positive environment for all.”
Molina always knew she wanted to be a teacher. It was important to her to give back and support kids in the same ways she experienced as a student herself.
Going into special education was an easy decision, as Molina loves working closely with students and celebrating all of their wins with them. It’s especially fulfilling to work in the elementary school setting.
In her role, Molina can be a teacher who challenges and cheerleads in equal measure, pushing her students to do their best while supporting them through all difficulties and victories.
Because Molina is so devoted, she sometimes feels like she is “not doing enough,” though her students and their families would be quick to disagree. But Molina’s dedication to helping students as much as she can is an indicator that she is in the right career, and these kids are lucky to have her.
Outside of school, Molina enjoys taking her children to the zoo, traveling, and trying new restaurants. She plays soccer and roots for St. Louis City and Manchester United.
She loves her job, and her students love her back. She is always in their corner and eager to support them through whatever comes up. Just like Molina had a positive experience as a student, she is determined to make sure her own students have that same opportunity in her classroom.
“I enjoy being able to watch students grow and accomplish goals no matter how small they may seem,” she added. “Being able to see students gain confidence and see what they can accomplish is just something I love to see.”
Thank you to Mrs. Molina for your work as a teacher!
