Fessler fondly recalled a personal connection she felt while working with a family member, which inspired her to foster the same sense of connection with her students as a teacher.

“I remember working with my Grandma Kruse, and she always made me feel so special because of the attention that she gave me,” Fessler said. “I wanted to help other children feel that special connection with someone.”

While finding what works best for each student has been a challenge throughout her teaching career, Fessler said she has enjoyed working with her students who each learn differently and have unique stories to tell.

“I have had the opportunity to work with so many amazing children, families, and teachers,” Fessler said. “Each day has been filled with new memories and experiences.”

After retiring, Fessler said she plans to continue her volunteer work with the Jersey County Fair, the Jersey County Farm Bureau, and the Jersey Community Hospital resale shop. She said she’ll also be spending more time with family and working on quilt projects.

“I have LOVED every moment and will cherish the memories that I have made,” Fessler added. “Each student holds a special place in my heart.”

Thank you to Diane Fessler for your 33 years of service to Jersey Community Unit School District 100!
