GLEN CARBON - William Rakers is an amazing student athlete.
For his accomplishments, William Rakers is a Student of the Month for Father McGivney Catholic High School.
Rakers, a junior, has played varsity soccer and varsity basketball since his freshman year. He also runs varsity track. It takes a lot of responsibility and dedication to perform at such a high level, but Rakers makes this look easy.
His athletic talents have earned him several honors. He was named an IHSA All-State Athlete for soccer, the St. Louis Athlete of the Week, and an Athlete of the Month. He is also an IHSA 4x8 state medalist.
Rakers maintains a balance between sports and school. He was recently inducted into the National Honor Society, which requires high grades and many hours of community service. He was named the secretary of the organization this year. His grades are equally impressive, and he scored a 33 on the ACT.
Rakers is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and serves as a House Leader at Father McGivney. He also plays club soccer outside of school.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, watching TV shows and movies, and playing different sports. He is narrowing down his plans for after high school, and his loved ones and teachers can’t wait to see what he does next.
“I plan on going to college and possibly majoring in engineering,” he shared.
Congratulations to William for this recognition by Father McGivney Catholic High School!
