As of May 9, Andreas was 2-0 in two starts and nine overall appearances for the Tigers, sporting a 3.43 ERA and allowing eight runs, all earned, on 15 hits in 16.3 innings pitched, walking eight and striking out 12.
In a game played on May 9, 2026, against Highland at Tom Pile Field, a 7-1 win over the Bulldogs, Andreas started and went for two innings, allowing no runs on one hit, walking one, and fanning one.
In a postgame interview, Andreas credited his slider as the pitch that has done him well so far this season.
Andreas is a Spencer Homes Male Athlete of the Month for the Tigers.
"I feel great," Andreas said. "I thought the fastball and slider were working the best for me today, kind of in the strike zone. I think the three pitchers after me did really well, and helped us get that 7-1 win."
At one point in the game, Edwardsville's pitching retired 12 consecutive Highland batters, which is a good sign for the entire pitching staff.
"It's been great," Andreas said.
Andreas was happy with where things stood during the Tigers’ eight-game winning streak.
"It's been awesome," Andreas said. "I think we started a little slow, losing against New Trier and Oak Park (River Forest) at the start of the season, but other than that, I think our win streak has been doing really well for us. I think the boys have locked in a lot more than in the beginning. I think our chemistry is starting to get put together a lot more. It's been a good win streak so far. Let's keep it going."
The IHSA Class 4A playoffs will be coming soon, with Edwardsville set to host a regional in the next two weeks. The state finals are set for Slammers Stadium in Joliet, June 12-13. The regional is an event that Andreas and the Tigers are looking forward to.
"I'm really looking forward to it," an excited Andreas said. "It's going to be a fun one."
Andreas credited his slider as the biggest secret to his success so far this year.
"Right now, for sure, the slider," Andreas said. "That's always been my best pitch throughout the years I have been playing baseball. That's definitely the out pitch for me, and locating my fastball also has been a big impact on my success this year."
His goals and ambitions for the remainder of the season are simple and achievable at the same time.
"To go far in the playoffs," Andreas said. "I don't think we're expected to go that far, but I think with the team we have right now, with a couple of more wins, I think we could go pretty far this year."
