

SPRINGFIELD — Jersey Community Unit School District No. 100’s girls track and field team earned multiple medals and qualified two events for the IHSA state meet following the IHSA Sectional Meet at Springfield Southeast on Thursday, May 14, 2026, with Jersey finishing 12th overall with 28.5 points.
Jersey's Morgan Allen qualified for state in the high jump with a mark of 1.54 meters. The 4x200 relay team of Madisyn Burch, Amelia Jumper, Allen, and Belle Peuterbaugh also qualified for state, placing sixth in 1:46.99 and improving on the school record.

Several other Jersey athletes earned medals at the sectional meet.
The Jersey girls' squad members are Sparklight Female Athletes of the Month for their sectional performances.
Maddy Johnson placed sixth in the discus at 31.28 meters, and Julia West placed sixth in the long jump at 4.80 meters. Peuterbaugh took sixth in the 200 meters in 26.41 seconds.
Senior Neely Goetten was ninth in the 100 hurdles (16.89). Senior Peterbaugh was ninth in the 100 meters with a top-notch time (12.75). The Panthers' Taylor Woodring concluded her career with a solid time in the 3,200 (13:35.99) for seventh place.
The 4x800 relay team of Courtney Breden, Makenna Brunaugh, Lydia McIntyre, and Brenley Kelly posted a time of 10:53.45 for sixth place.
In pole vault, Riley Thornton recorded 2.22 meters for eighth place, and Trinity Cummines placed 10th with 2.22 meters.
Makenna Brunaugh of Jersey was seventh in the high jump (1.44 meters).
