

SPRINGFIELD - Civic Memorial High School’s track and field team is sending several athletes to the state meet after a slate of qualifying performances led by a sectional title in the pole vault.
The CM girls sectional competitors are Tom Lane State Farm Insurance Female Athletes Of The Month.

Kaylee Shields was the sectional champion in the pole vault with a mark of 3.27 meters, and she is among Civic Memorial’s state qualifiers.
Also qualifying for state were CM's Allie Kamp in the 400 meters, placing sixth in 1:00.70, and Sarah Rider in the 100 hurdles, also sixth in 16.14.
Rider added multiple sectional finishes. She placed 10th in the long jump at 4.66 meters and was fifth in the triple jump at 10.47 meters. Rider is a junior and will return in spring 2027.
Lillie Wood placed ninth in the 1,600 meters in 6:05.77.
In the 3,200, Taylor Brooks, a senior, finished ninth in 13:43.13. Teammate Mya Walker, a junior, was 10th in 13:53.39.
Ella Jeffery of CM was seventh in the discus (31.27 meters).
Civic Memorial’s 4x800 relay team of Kinley Govero, Portia Freiner, Oliva Wiley and Wood placed seventh in 11:04.48.
