

SPRINGFIELD - Triad High School claimed the IHSA 2A Girls Track and Field Sectional title on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Springfield Southeast with 119.33 points, edging East St. Louis with 115.5 points.
Springfield Sacred-Heart Griffin was third with 63 points, Highland fourth with 57 points. Roxana was 10th with 35 points, Civic Memorial was 11th with 29 points, Jersey was 12th with 28.5 points, Father McGivney Catholic was 14th with 15.33 points, East Alton-Wood River was 15th with 7 points and Marquette Catholic 16th with 6 points.

In the 100 meters, Triad's Sophia Schardan won with a time of 11.93 and teammate Addie Field was second (12.02), Damya Moore of East St. Louis was fourth (12.61).
Addie Field of Triad won the 200 meters (24.87) and Izzy Stein was second (25.59). Je'Tira Taylor of East St. Louis was third (26.0) and De'myia White of East St. Louis was fifth (26.33).
Field of Triad was first in the 400 (58.0) and Jade Davis of East St. Louis was fifth (1:00.17) to qualify to state.
Kacey Ruger of Triad was fourth in the 800 meters (2:33.48). Brane Brown of East St. Louis was sixth (2:38.37) and Eleanor Brame of East Alton-Wood River was seventh (2:38.45) as only a freshman.
Gianna Stassi advanced to state in the 800 meters in third (5:41.41) and Triad's Emerberlie Goins was fifth (5:45.45).
Goins won the 3,200 (11:55.04) and Stassi was second (11:55.23). Highland's Katie Fenton was third (12:03.31), Father McGivney's Ainsley Turkington was fourth (12:41.72) and McGivney's Bella Redenius was sixth (12:55.22).
Triad's Ava Gallia won the 300 hurdles (45.86), followed by Kendra Jennings of East St. Louis (47.63). McGivney's Aubrey Hattrup was sixth (50.29). Hattrup is only a freshman and has a strong future ahead.
Kendra Jennings of East St. Louis won the 100 hurdles (15.41) and Triad's Ava Gallia was fifth (15.99).
Marquette Catholic's Jami Jones was third in the shot put (10.40 meters), behind Dariyah Ford of East St. Louis, the winner, (11.35 meters) and Kendyl Poettker of Breese Central (11.17 meters).
East Side's Ford was third in the discus (33.12 meters), Grace Parker of Triad was fifth (32.22 meters), Zoe Oller of McGivney was eighth (31.18 meters).
Roxana's Jaylin Roach was fourth in the high jump (1.54 meters) and teammate Leah Newton was sixth (1.49 meters). Roach also qualified for state.
East St. Louis' Pea'Ton N. Walker was third (5.13 meters) and East Alton-Wood River's Brooklynn Rexford, another freshman for EAWR, was fourth (4.95 meters).
Rexford and Brame of EAWR both show great potential for the future for the young Oilers.
East St. Louis' Pea'Ton N. Walker was third in the triple jump (11.0 meters) and teammate Mclemore Zakariah was fourth (10.82 meters).
Triad qualified its 4 x 100 relay (48.14) in first and East St. Louis was second (49.36) to qualify.
East St. Louis won the 4 x 200 relay (1:44.81) and Triad was second to qualify (1:44.92). Father McGivney's 4 x 200 relay was seventh (1:48.78).
East Side won the 4 x 400 relay (4:06.83) and Highland was second (4:08.91) to qualify for state.
Highland won the 4 x 800 relay (9:44.18) to advance.
