
GODFREY – A Jerseyville resident accused of stealing hardwood flooring and more from an unfinished Godfrey home faces felony charges in Jersey County.

Keith S. Ward, 41, of Jerseyville, was charged on May 11, 2026 with a Class 2 felony count of burglary and a Class 3 felony count of theft.
Ward allegedly knowingly entered a residence on State Highway 3 in Godfrey without legal authority which was under construction at the time of the offense on May 5, 2026, when he reportedly intended to commit a theft.
On the same date, Ward is accused of stealing five boxes of Karaston hardwood flooring, one box of Rollex trim coil, a utility shop light, and one box of Paslode framing nails from the owners of the burglarized residence. Charging documents state the stolen items had a combined value of over $500.
Ward was ordered released from custody pending trial in this case. Under the conditions of his release, he has been ordered to have no form of contact or communication with either of the property owners.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
