Madison County Man Dies in Early Morning Road Incident

Tyler C. Robinson, 24, was struck by a vehicle near Marine, Illinois. Authorities continue investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.

MARINE - Madison County Coroner Nicholas P. Novacich on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, identified a 24-year-old Marine man who died after being struck by a vehicle early in the morning along Illinois State Route 4.

The man was identified as Tyler C. Robinson, 24, of Marine. Robinson was found alongside the roadway on Illinois State Route 4, about 0.4 miles south of Illinois State Route 143, according to information released by the coroner’s office.

Illinois State Police received a call at approximately 5:09 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, requesting a welfare check on a subject observed walking in the roadway. Additional witnesses later observed the subject walking in the area after the initial call, the release said.

When state police units arrived, they located Robinson unresponsive and notified local emergency responders, then notified the coroner’s office. Senior Investigator Diondra N. Horner and Investigator Ashley N. Reed responded and issued an official pronouncement of death at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

The coroner said preliminary evidence recovered at the scene showed Robinson was struck by a vehicle, which has since been located. The driver is fully cooperating with the Illinois State Police investigation.

The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit and Zone 6 Criminal Investigations Unit were requested to respond to the scene.

An autopsy and routine toxicology testing will be performed to aid in determining the cause and manner of death. The coroner’s office said a final cause of death will not be issued until all reports are finalized.

The case remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Madison County Coroner’s Office.

Funeral arrangements were pending.
