For his respectful nature and hard work from athletics to academics, Kanallakan is being honored as a May 2026 Medford Wealth Management Student of the Month for Jersey Community High School.

Now in his junior year at JCHS, Kanallakan is a year-round student-athlete who has been playing baseball, basketball, and golf for all three years of high school. He’s also been involved in Class Council each year and is looking forward to becoming a leading member of the school’s Blue Crew next year.

Kanallakan said he’s also looking forward to an internship opportunity at Royal Banks of Jerseyville this summer. He plans to attend a four-year university to major in accounting after graduating from JCHS, and already has a few schools in mind. His top picks so far are the University of Illinois, the University of Missouri, and the University of Texas at Austin.

In his free time, Kanallakan said he enjoys hanging out with his family and friends. He sharpens his athletic skills outside of school by golfing with friends and working to get better at baseball. He added: “I am a hard worker and put a lot of effort into my work ethic.”

Social Studies Teacher Ben Gracey said he’s personally seen how Brogan “leads by example every single day in our school.” He spoke highly of Kanallakan’s engagement in class and genuine respect for others.

“In my U.S. History class, he has been incredibly consistent, working hard from day one until the very end,” Gracey said. “Brogan is not the type to seek the spotlight, but his classmates clearly respect him because of the way he carries himself and treats others. Brogan makes the classroom better simply by being in it.”

He also noted Kanallakan’s involvement in the school’s athletic programs, where he shows the same sense of leadership and character Gracey sees in the classroom. “He is an outstanding representative of Jersey Community High School,” Gracey added.

Congratulations to Brogan Kanallakan for his recognition as a May 2026 Medford Wealth Management Student of the Month for Jersey Community High School!
