WOOD RIVER – Exciting events are coming up this summer in Wood River following a $10,000 donation towards a July 3 drone show and city approval of other event requests.
At the May 18, 2026 Wood River City Council meeting, Tiffany James with Midwest Members Credit Union presented Mayor Tom Stalcup with a $10,000 sponsorship check in support of Wood River’s upcoming Illinois 250 Celebration on Friday, July 3, 2026.
The family-fun event at Belk Park will run from 4 to 10 p.m., featuring food trucks, a beer tent, live music, and activities for all ages, including a cornhole tournament. The evening will cap off with a drone show illuminating the night sky starting at 9:15 p.m.
Requests for Parade, Farmers Market Also Approved
At the same meeting, a request from Parks & Recreation Director Pat Minogue to hold the Annual Youth League Parade was unanimously approved. The parade is set to start on Saturday, June 6, 2026, starting at 10:30 a.m.
Council members also approved a request from the Wood River Business Alliance to use the downtown parking lot on Madison Avenue on Thursday evenings from 3 to 7 p.m. for the 2026 Farmers Market. The 2026 market season will run from Thursday, June 11, 2026 to Thursday, September 24, 2026.
