The 25th Anniversary tours will feature eight stops with a cast of 13 decedents of various ages. The decedents will be portrayed by two Black males, two Black females, three White males, three White females, and two children. Commitment is five performances and an individualized rehearsal schedule.
“Vintage Voices personifies historical storytelling at its best. Each year, we hold open auditions to cast individuals committed to writing and performing the stories of the decedents identified for this year’s event. Auditions will be a cold reading from a provided script. See you in June!” – Kerry Miller, Vintage Voices Co-Director
The annual event consists of walking tours at the Alton Cemetery (5th and Vine Streets), with actors in period costumes telling the stories of Altonians who have shaped the area’s history. The tour dates are October 3, 4, 10, 11, 2026, beginning at noon daily. Last tour is at 2:15. Tours depart from the main gate on Vine Street every 15-20 minutes.
A non-walking performance will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at St. Mary’s Middle School, Milton Road in Alton. Performance is at 5:00 pm.
