Tobin Scores Three As Griffins Capture Class 1A Regional Girls Soccer Crown

BREESE — Father McGivney Catholic won its 19th match of the season Friday, May 22, 2026, defeating Breese Central 7-0 to capture the IHSA Class 1A Breese Central Regional in Breese behind three goals from Layla Tobin.

The Griffins secured the regional title with Tobin leading the attack. Emerson Isringhausen, Natalie Beck, and Sofia Rossetto also scored goals for Father McGivney Catholic.

In the goal, Peyton Ellis recorded another shutout with teammate Addison Rank.

With the win, Father McGivney advances to the Columbia Sectional, where it is scheduled to play Freeburg at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Freeburg advanced as the Freeburg Regional champion with a 2-1 victory over Waterloo Gibault.

McGivney is 19-2-3 entering sectional action on Tuesday.
