TWO-TIME STATE CHAMPION: Alton's Rayna Raglin Takes First In 100- and 200-Meter Races In State Finals

ALTON - Rayna Raglin of Alton won state titles in the 100-meter and 200-meter races and placed eighth in the 400 on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the IHSA Class 3A Girls State Track and Field Meet at Eastern Illinois University’s O’Brien Field in Charleston.

Raglin, a senior, finished first in the 100 meters in 11.87 seconds and first in the 200 meters in 23.41. She also took eighth in the 400 in 57.06.

“I am happy all the hard work paid off,” Raglin said.

Raglin said she was not fully satisfied with every result, but said the 200 helped offset her feelings about the 100 and that she approached the 400 with a different mindset.

“I was upset with my time in the 100, and the 200 made up for that,” she said. “I went in the 400, and just wanted to get it done. It isn’t the same race for me as the 100 and 200 meters; I need to work harder to get better in the 400 in college.”

In the 100 final, Raglin finished ahead of Maliyah Miller of Chicago St. Ignatius College Prep, who was second in 12.07, and Aniya Mullins of Flossmoor Homewood-Flossmoor, who was third in 12.19. Raglin said the windy conditions affected the race.

“There was a headwind, but I'm happy I won,” she said. “My time in the 100 final was one of the worst of the season, but I am thankful I came across the finish line first.”

In the 200, Raglin topped Daisha Brunson of Hoffman Estates Conant, who was second in 23.77, and Cassidy Willis of Belleville East, who was third in 23.92. Joanna Anoke of Edwardsville was fourth in 24.03.

In the 400, Maliyah Miller won in 53.95. Abigail Jackson of Normal University was second in 54.53, and Brie Noel of Evanston Township was third in 54.81. Raglin placed eighth.

After her races, Raglin reflected on sharing the moment with those close to her and on what comes next.

“On the podium, I was looking at family, friends, and classmates and thankful for all my people here,” she said. “I leave June 24 for Florida. I am excited about a new chapter of my life in college and meeting new coaches, teammates, and everything.”

Raglin said she is going to South Florida and hopes to continue in the 100 and 200, while possibly also running the 400 and 4x400 relay.

“Hopefully I will do the 100, 200, but in college I may be in the 400, too," she said. "I am going to South Florida."

She also credited her coaches and teammates for helping her reach the state meet podium.

“My coaches and teammates are always uplifting. I had great teammates who pushed me hard. They always push for success in both school and track. I am very thankful for my success today. It has been a great experience at Alton."
