The Warriors advanced to a game against regional host Edwardsville on Wednesday afternoon in the semifinals, with a chance to play in the final Saturday morning.

The Generals got on the board in the opening inning, when, with one out, Sean Abraham and Luke Karunas hit back-to-back singles, and Monroe Gregurich was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Peyton Alden grounded back to the box and was thrown out at first, but Abraham scored to give MacArthur a 1-0 lead.

The Warriors went ahead in the home half of the second, when, with one out, Connor Schaefer and Ayden Cooper hit back-to-back singles to put runners on first and second, then Michael Terry singled on the infield, but Cooper was thrown out at second for the second out, Schaefer advancing to third. Darin Brown singled home Schaefer to tie the game 1-1, then Granite took the lead on an RBI single by Tuff Bradley to center, as both Brown and Terry scored on the play, Bradley taking second on the throw to the plate as the Warriors went ahead 3-1.

Cooper drew a walk to start the Granite City fourth, Terry singled to center, with Cooper going to third on an error, then Terry went to second on defensive indifference, and Brown walked to load the bases. Tuff Bradley then singled home courtesy runner L. Schuette and Terry to make it 5-1, Brown going to second. Even Brewer singled to reload the bases one out later, and with two out, Andrew Willaredt drew a walk to force home Brown and give Granite a 6-1 lead before the inning ended.

A lead-off solo homer by Benny Medaris over the left field fence cut the lead to 6-2 in the MacArthur fifth, but that would be as close as the Generals would get, as Wilson allowed only a hit batsman and a seventh inning double the rest of the way to give the Warriors the 6-2 win, to advance.

Tuff Bradley led the way with his two hits and four RBIs for Granite, while both Timo Bradley and Terry had two hits each, Brewer, Schaefer, Cooper, and Brown each had a hit, and Willaredt drove in a run. Wilson threw a complete game on the mound, allowing two earned runs on four hits, walking none, and striking out seven.

The Generals conclude their season at 10-20, while the Warriors are now 15-15, and move on to the regional semifinal game against Edwardsville on Wednesday at Tom Pile Field in a 4 p.m. start. The winner faces the winner of the Collinsville-Quincy second semifinal in the regional final Saturday at 10 a.m., with the Edwardsville winner meeting the Belleville East regional winner in the Normal Community sectional semifinal June 3 at Roy E. Lee Field at the Simmons Baseball Complex at SIU-Edwardsville in a 6 p.m. start.
