Village of East Alton Water Department employees may go door-to-door in selected areas to check whether service lines are made of copper, plastic, or galvanized material. The inspection is expected to take about five to 10 minutes, the Village of East Alton Water Department said.

If no one is home during the visit, employees will leave a door tag. Residents are asked to contact the Water Department at (618) 259-6521 to schedule an appointment so the inspection can be completed, and the information needed for the project can be collected.

The village said residents should not be alarmed if they see Water Department staff in their neighborhood, describing the visits as part of an information-gathering process for records and future planning.

The streets included in this phase of the project are Ohio, Bonds, West McCasland, Victory, North Pence, Smith, Herman, Shamrock, West St. Louis Avenue, South Pence, East St. Louis Avenue, Washington, Lincoln, Monroe, Bowman, 5th Street and 6th Street.

“We appreciate your cooperation and assistance with this project,” the Village of East Alton said.
