TROY — A single goal decided the Class 3A sectional match Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Triad High School, just as O’Fallon coach Justin Judiscak expected.
Edwardsville defeated O’Fallon 1-0 on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, on Jumper’s goal in the 58th minute, ending O’Fallon’s season at 14-4-3.
“We felt it was going to be a close game, it was going to be a one-goal game either way,” Judiscak said, “most likely, because that’s how it was all season. We knew that if we didn’t capitalize on our opportunities, then something like this could happen. It’s a very good team over there, both very good teams. Throughout the season, that was something we really tried to stress — we’re not going to create as many opportunities as maybe we have in the past, so we’ve really got to capitalize on the ones we do, and we had some good opportunities tonight. Just the ball didn’t fall in the back of the net for us, and they found the back of the net on a nice goal. That’s the difference in the game.”
Judiscak said O’Fallon had chances but could not convert them, while Edwardsville made the key defensive plays needed to preserve the shutout.
“A couple of nice saves,” Judiscak said. “There were a couple of, like, scrums in front of the goal, throw ins, the ball kind of got knocked around, you never know what’s going to happen, but they did what they needed to do to make what I like to call those winning plays, to block shots, not let the ball go into the net, and find one of their own.”
He said the decisive goal developed quickly.
“It kind of came quickly,” Judiscak said. “They weren’t pressing us in for a long period of time, so they kind of got in behind us and served it across. I kind of have to go back and look at the video, exactly, because it came quickly, I thought, and I knew that I saw the girl on the back side, taking a touch and getting it into the far corner. So I don’t really know exactly what transpired to get it to that point, but that was a nice goal. A nice finish.”
Judiscak said he believed O’Fallon generated enough offense to win, even though it did not score.
“I think that’s one thing we were missing,” Judiscak said. “Even despite that, I still think we generated enough opportunities to win the game. If we were at a point to where we didn’t really have any chances, they just outplayed us, and they were all over us, they scored a goal and beat us, I think that’s one thing, but I think we did a great job connecting passes and creating opportunities. As I said, we didn’t finish the ones that we created. And that’s soccer.
"I’ve been in these games long enough to know one goal makes the difference in a game like this. But I’m really proud of my girls. They had a great attitude all year; they were very coachable, we went through a lot of things we wanted to work on and get better at, and I believe they got better on those. Like I told the girls after the game, it just comes down to one goal — somebody’s got to score. I’m really proud of them for the way they played during the playoff season.”
