TROY — Triad Knights defeated Waterloo 11-1 on Wednesday at Triad High School in an IHSA Sectional Semifinal, using a three-run first inning and a five-run seventh to pull away.

Triad took control early in the top of the first inning. Carter Gaskill drew a walk that brought home one run, and Auggie Bugger followed with a single that scored two more.
Waterloo answered in the bottom of the first when Austin Martin hit a solo home run to left field, but that was the team’s only run of the game.
Triad added to its lead with a five-run seventh inning on six hits. Keegan Seipp doubled to score one run, Nolan Keller doubled to score one run, Gaskill tripled to score one run, Nathan Klucker singled to score one run, and Kade Rocca tripled to score one run.
Matt Morris earned the win for Triad. The starter allowed three hits and one run over six innings, striking out four and walking one. Kody Anderson pitched one inning of scoreless relief, allowing one hit with no strikeouts and no walks.
Cannon Richard took the loss for Waterloo. He pitched four and one-third innings, allowing six runs on four hits while striking out three and walking four.
Triad finished with 11 hits. Keller, Rocca and Braxton Yates each had two hits. Keller, Gaskill, Bugger and Seipp each drove in two runs.
Triad also turned one double play and did not commit an error. Rocca led the team in the field with six chances.
Martin went 1-for-3 and led Waterloo with one RBI. Martin, Conrad Lindhorst, Trey Breitenstein and Caleb Papenberg each had one hit.
