Alton Senior Legion Tops Jerseyville Behind Late Doubles

A tight early contest stayed deadlocked until extra-base hits shifted momentum in the sixth. Alton then leaned on dominant pitching to finish off a 4-1 road victory.

JERSEYVILLE - Alton Senior Legion defeated Jerseyville Senior Legion 4-1 on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in Jerseyville, using timely extra-base hits and strong pitching to secure the win.

Alton took the lead at the top of the first when Joe Stephan doubled to put Alton on the board. Jerseyville answered in the bottom of the inning, tying the game at 1-1 after Drainer grounded out.

The game remained even until the sixth, when Nolan Bowsher doubled to give Alton a 2-1 lead.

Carter Watson earned the win for Alton. He allowed no hits and no runs over three innings, striking out six and walking none.

Charlie Stumpf added two innings of scoreless relief, giving up no hits while striking out four and walking two.

Cam Sievers started for Alton and allowed one hit and one run, unearned, over two innings. He struck out five and did not issue a walk.

Vaniusdoll took the loss for Jerseyville Legion. He pitched six innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits while striking out five and walking two.

Johnny Kunz led Alton at the plate with two hits in four at-bats. Stephan and Bowsher each drove in one run.

Vaniusdoll led Jerseyville Legion offensively, going 1-for-2 and stealing two bases.
