UPDATE: Rider Airlifted After Alton Rear-End Crash With SUV

Police and fire crews responded Sunday night after a moped-style motorcycle struck a stopped Ford SUV at a busy Alton intersection. One victim was airlifted as investigators work to piece together what happened.

ALTON - On June 21, 2026, at approximately 8:52 p.m., officers with the Alton Police Department and personnel from the Alton Fire Department responded to a traffic crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle at Homer Adams Parkway and Buckmaster.

According to preliminary information, a male operating a moped-style motorcycle rear-ended a Ford SUV that was stopped in traffic. A passenger was also riding on the motorcycle at the time of the crash.

The passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance from the scene. The motorcycle operator suffered a leg injury and was airlifted to a St. Louis-area hospital for treatment.

Authorities reported that his injuries were not considered life-threatening. The traffic crash investigation is ongoing at this time.
