“How evil can Donald Trump get? Congress just passed the biggest housing bill in 30 years, and this President is stomping on the brakes and holding it hostage until we pass his voter suppression bill.

“After all, it is Trump who is responsible for sending costs soaring across the board. And now, he is single-handedly blocking housing relief that families desperately need in attempt to steal the next election. It doesn’t get more corrupt than this. Shame on him.”

With the median age of first-time homebuyers being at a record-high of 40 years old, and as Illinois faces a dire housing shortage that would require 227,000 homes to be built over the next 5 years to keep up with demand, the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is an urgently needed lifeline for the American people. Specifically, the bill includes 47 total housing supply provisions designed to build more housing and lower costs, and it stops private equity from buying up single family homes that would otherwise be available to middle class families.
