The ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Wood River Business Alliance's newly renovated office, located at 61 E. Ferguson Avenue in Downtown Wood River.
The event celebrates the completion of the WRBA's new headquarters while also recognizing the organization's recent designation as an Accredited Main Street America™ program—the highest level of recognition awarded by Main Street America to organizations demonstrating excellence in downtown revitalization and community development.
The program will feature remarks from local, regional, and state leaders, including representatives from the City of Wood River, Main Street America, the Illinois Main Street Program, Madison County, and members of the Wood River Business Alliance. The City of Wood River will also present a proclamation declaring June 26, 2026, as Wood River Main Street Day.
"This accreditation is a testament to the incredible partnerships that have helped transform Downtown Wood River," said Kristen Burns, Executive Director of the Wood River Business Alliance. "Today's celebration recognizes the volunteers, businesses, city leaders, partners, and community members who have embraced our vision of creating a vibrant downtown and a stronger community together."
Following the ribbon cutting, the celebration will continue with the WRBA Summer Social from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Guests are invited to enjoy food by WRBA partners, live music by Spencer McDole, networking, and an opportunity to tour the newly renovated office.
Since becoming a Main Street program, the Wood River Business Alliance has focused on economic development, historic preservation, community events, beautification projects, business support, and downtown investment. Receiving Main Street America Accreditation recognizes the organization's commitment to following nationally recognized best practices for revitalizing historic commercial districts.
The event is free and open to the public and will be rain or shine.
