
EDWARDSVILLE - In a Facebook post, Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7 Superintendent Dr. Allen Duncan Jr. confirmed there was a partial ceiling collapse at Lincoln Middle School.

On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, reports of a ceiling collapse at Lincoln Middle School came in between 9–9:30 a.m. Lincoln Middle School is undergoing a planned summer renovation as part of its abatement project.
Five people were in the vicinity when the collapse happened, but two refused medical treatment and one person did not require it. The Edwardsville Fire Department captain reported that two people were sent to area hospitals to be evaluated.
In the Facebook post, posted at 11:30 a.m. that morning, Duncan noted there were no serious injuries and no Lincoln Middle School employees or students were involved or in the area.
“This incident is currently under review by the district and the contracted agencies involved,” he added.
Duncan also thanked the City of Edwardsville’s emergency personnel for their “swift response” and emphasized that the district is committed to safety.
