WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Stop Gun Violence, a gun-owner and sportsmen-led organization dedicated to promoting responsible gun ownership and preventing gun violence, endorsed Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) for her commitment to advancing meaningful and achievable reforms to prevent gun violence and strengthen public safety.
Founded by a veteran of the gun safety movement, SGV is working to elect leaders who understand that protecting communities and respecting responsible gun ownership are not competing goals. Nikki Budzinski supports widely backed policies — including safe storage requirements, red flag laws, and other responsible reforms — that can save lives while respecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

“As gun violence continues to impact communities across the country, we need leaders who are willing to come together and deliver solutions that make a real difference,” said SGV Board Chair Brian Lemek, founder of Stop Gun Violence and former executive director and founder of Brady PAC. “Nikki Budzinski understands that responsible gun owners, survivors, and communities across America all share the same goal: making our neighborhoods safer. She is committed to standing up to the corporate gun lobby and advancing reforms that reflect the will of the American people.”
"Gun violence is a tragic — but preventable — epidemic that continues to devastate families and communities across our country. It's long past time for Congress to enact common-sense gun safety measures that will save lives and help ensure every community is safe and secure. I'm proud to stand alongside Stop Gun Violence and grateful for their support in this race," said Budzinski. "I'll never back down from the corporate gun lobby or the special interests that have blocked lifesaving action for far too long. The American people deserve leaders with the courage to stand up and fight for what is right."
More than 125 people are killed by gun violence every day in America. Stop Gun Violence is committed to electing leaders who will work together to advance widely supported, obtainable, and responsible reforms that protect communities, strengthen public safety, and save lives. It supports candidates through direct contributions, fundraising assistance through its gun violence prevention network, message guidance and research, as well as on-the-ground and in-state campaign support.
