
TRENTON - Joe Stephan helped himself immensely, as he and Abe Kribs had a three-hit, two-RBI night at the plate, and also threw a complete game on the mound, allowing only one hit, as Alton Post 126's senior American Legion baseball team took a 10-0 win over Trenton Post 778 in a game played Tuesday night, July 7, 2026, at Trenton City Park.

The Legionnaires have one game left in the regular season, and have now won back-to-back games for the first time since June 13-16, and have also won five of their last 10 games, improved to 15-10 on the season.
It was all Post 126 on Tuesday, as Alton scored four runs in the second inning, then three more runs in both the third and fourth innings to take the 10-0 win over the Gators, with the game ended by the 10-run rule.
Both Kribs and Stephan collected three hits and two RBIs each for Alton, while John Kunz had two hits and two RBIs, Hayce Steinkuehler had two hits on the day, Carter Watson and Logan Bromaghin had a hit and RBI apiece, and Dylan Vandiver and John Kodros both had hits. Stephan pitched a great game on the mound, going all five innings to earn the win, allowing no runs on one hit, walking none and striking out five.
Post 126 goes to 15-10 on the season, and hosts Glen Carbon Post 439 in its regular season finale Wednesday night at home at Lloyd Hopkins Field in Gordon More Park, with a 6 p.m. start.
The District 22 playoffs are set for July 10-14 at the various ballparks in the district for the double-elimination tournament, the winner going on to the Fifth Division tournament July 15-19 at a site to be announced. The division winner will join the other four division winners and the host Express in the Illinois state tournament July 22-26 at Aviston Post 1239's home park.
The state winner goes on to the Great Lakes regional tournament Aug. 5-9 in Lexington, Ky., and the regional winner goes to the 101st American Legion World Series, set for Aug. 13-18 at Keeter Stadium in its now-traditional home of Shelby, N.C.
