Glen Carbon Woman Faces Child Battery Charges

Local woman accused of attacking preteen with belt; prosecutors seek additional conditions on her release from custody.

GLEN CARBON – Glen Carbon Police have charged a village resident with battering a 12-year-old child.

The 33-year-old Glen Carbon woman faces one count each of aggravated battery (a Class 3 felony) and domestic battery (a Class A misdemeanor) filed in Madison County court on July 2, 2026.

The woman allegedly knowingly struck a 12-year-old child on the face with a belt on May 26, 2026, causing bruising and bodily harm.

The Glen Carbon Police Department presented the case to prosecutors, and the woman was ordered remanded to jail until her initial appearance in court.

The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a motion requesting additional conditions be imposed on her pretrial release from custody, noting she “has previously threatened or perpetrated physical abuse toward the victim in this matter” and “presents a continued threat to the victim.”
