Alton Native Wren Crawford Selected for USC Gould Pre-Law Summer Institute

ALTON — Alton native Wren Crawford has been selected for the 2026 ASCEND Pre-Law Summer Institute at the USC Gould School of Law, earning one of 35 spots in the nationally competitive program from a pool of more than 800 applicants.

Crawford, a Silver Medallion graduate of Alton High School and a student at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, is preparing to begin her sophomore year. The program is designed to prepare aspiring attorneys through academic instruction, professional development, mentorship and networking opportunities.

USC Gould said in its acceptance letter that Crawford’s “academic achievements, talents and experiences” stood out, adding that her accomplishments reflect “a clear dedication to the legal profession.” The law school also said it looks forward to supporting her continued growth as she prepares for law school and a future legal career.

The ASCEND Pre-Law Summer Institute brings scholars into contact with USC Gould faculty, practicing attorneys, judges and other legal professionals, offering firsthand exposure to legal education and the practice of law.
