Montclaire Marlins Girls Defeat Stingrays 194-106 in Edwardsville

EDWARDSVILLE - Montclaire Swim Club Marlins' girls team won over the Stingrays 194-106 on Tuesday night, July 14, 2026, at Montclaire Swim Club.

In the girls races, starting with the eight-and-under division, Anna Rousseau of the Marlins won the 50-meter freestyle at 55.50 seconds, while Montclaire won the 100-meter medley relay at 1:51.18, Meredith Luitjohan of Montclaire won the 10-and-under 100-meter individual medley with a time of 1:34.16, the Marlins' Caroline Newman won the 25-meter freestyle at 22.00 seconds, teammate Dylan Fox won the 25-meter backstroke at 29.07 seconds, Newman won the 25-meter breaststroke at 30.85 seconds, Fox was the winner of the 25-meter butterfly at 27.50 seconds, and Montclaire won the 100-meter freestyle relay at 1:39.72.

In the results of the nine-and-10-year-old events, Amelia Shaffer of the Marlins was the winner of the 100-meter freestyle at 1:24.87, with the Marlins taking the 100-meter medley relay at 1:28.50, Luitjohan won the 50-meter freestyle at 34.53 seconds, and also the 50-meter backstroke at 42.93 seconds, Evelynn Morris continued the Marlins' dominance with the win in the 50-meter breaststroke at 56.78 seconds,: Layla Sweet of Montclaire took the 50-meter butterfly at 44.03 seconds, and the Marlins won the 100-meter freestyle relay at 1:14.57.

The 11-and-12-year-old race results saw the Stingrays' Hildi Deist win the 100-meter freestyle at 1:13.88, with Sunset Hills winning the 200-meter medley relay at 2:47.18, Betty Cadagin continued the Stingrays' comeback with a win in the 100-meter individual medley at 1:28.37, Deist became a double winner by taking the 50-meter freestyle at 33.78 seconds, then won her third event in the 50-meter backstroke at 42.53 seconds, Cadagin won the 50-meter breaststroke at 45.03 seconds, and then became a triple winner in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 40.57 seconds, and the Stingrays completed the age group sweep with a win in the 200-meter freestyle relay at 2:30.13.

Over in the 13-and-14 division, Montclaire's Lillian Morris won the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:18.34, with the Stingrays taking the 13-18 200-meter medley relay at 2:40.78. Aster Carson of Sunset Hills won the 100-meter individual medley at 1:24.91. Violet Shaffer of the Marlins took the win in the 50-meter freestyle at 32.28 seconds, and also won the 50-meter backstroke at 39.81 seconds, while Nora Walton of the Stingrays won the 50-meter breaststroke at 42.07 seconds, teammate Caroline Walton won the 50-meter butterfly at 38.29 seconds, and the Marlins won the 13-18 200-meter freestyle relay at 2:17.25.

In the final age group, the 15-18 division, Riley Edmondson of the Marlins won the 100-meter freestyle at 1:31.47, with Montclaire's Corrine Morris winning the 200-meter individual medley at 1:17.81, then going on to win the 50-meter freestyle at 31.35 decibels, Addison Gunn of Sunset Hills won the 50-meter backstroke at 38.10 seconds, Morgan Popelar of the Marlins won the 50-meter breaststroke at 47.19 seconds, and Morris won the 50-meter butterfly at 34.78 seconds.
