Heritage Days Event Returns to Greenville with Rural Fun and History

All Set For Heritage Days in Greenville IL: Our Daily Show Interview!

GREENVILLE - Community members can enjoy a weekend of American rural history and culture at Greenville’s Heritage Days event.

On July 24, 25 and 26, 2026, the American Farm Heritage Museum will host their annual Heritage Days at 1395 Museum Avenue in Greenville. From farming demonstrations and tractor pulls to a flea market and military displays, the weekend promises to be a fun chance to engage with farming history.

“We are a festival about history,” said Steve Loos with the American Farm Heritage Museum. “I love living history and just love seeing it all come together.”

The fun kicks off at 8 a.m. every day and runs until dark on Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25. It costs $10 for an armband, which grants you access for the entire weekend. On Sunday, July 26, the event goes from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and it costs $5 to attend. Children under age 10 are free, and parking is free.

You can shop antique items and crafters’ wares at a flea market with over 50 vendors. There is also a one-mile train ride and kiddie pedal pulls to enjoy.

Several farming demonstrations will take place, and you can check out a variety of antique farming equipment and engines. Tractor pulls are scheduled throughout the weekend.

Historic Hills Fort is a replica of a Civil War-era fort of the same name. A blacksmith will demonstrate their technique inside of the fort. Other military displays will be onsite.

On Sunday, July 26, a car cruise will travel through Greenville. Loos noted that several car clubs are slated to come, and he looks forward to seeing their vehicles.

There will be live music each day, as well as food and beer available for purchase.

Loos noted that organizing Heritage Days “takes a village,” but the American Farm Heritage Museum organization is full of members who are passionate about this work. They are eager to share their love of rural history and culture with the community.

“This is just one of our huge events that we do every year,” he explained. “We’re so excited. There are just so many pieces to the puzzle, and everybody works together like a family to make it happen.”

He noted that people can reach out to the American Farm Heritage Museum organization at their official website for more information about their work, including how to donate or how to get involved. They have several other events planned later this year, and they need the community’s support to make these events happen.

In the meantime, Loos can’t wait to welcome the community out for another fun Heritage Days weekend. He believes this event is a great way to engage with history and the farming community. He urges people of all ages to come out and enjoy the family-friendly fun.

“Come early and stay late,” he said. “Bring the family. Don’t be afraid to bring both the young and the old all at the same time. There’s something for everybody…When you see Grandma and Grandpa smiling and you see little kids smiling, it makes it all worth it.”
