BETHALTO – The Bethalto Community Unit School District No. 8 is aware that a former student was recently arrested and charged for making threats against, among others, the school district. The individual has been apprehended and is in law enforcement custody. There is no immediate threat.

Since being notified of the threat by the Bethalto Police Department, we have taken appropriate actions to ensure the school remains safe, and we will continue to be diligent. As this is an ongoing law enforcement matter, the District cannot comment further on the law enforcement investigation, the potential criminal prosecution, or any related legal procedures. However, we have and continue to collaborate and cooperate with law enforcement.

The District will continue to review any information it receives in connection with the matter. Any action necessary to maintain a safe educational environment will be taken. The safety and security of our school community remains our highest priority. Please know that this matter has the District’s full attention and will be dealt with appropriately. Further information will be provided as appropriate.
