After being signaled by a police officer to stop his vehicle on July 11, 2026, Jones allegedly failed to stop the vehicle and drove at “speeds above 100 mph” on North State Street near Lott Street in Jerseyville. Charging documents state he also “sideswiped” another vehicle “while trying to pass.”

Jones reportedly “struck another motor vehicle while attempting to pass multiple vehicles both in and out of city limits,” according to the probable cause statement within his pretrial release order, which notes a posted speed limit of 45 mph at the location of the incident.

Jones was cited and released from custody with a notice to appear at the Jersey County Courthouse on July 28, 2026.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
