
PIASA - Kaden Matuska of Southwestern won Macoupin County championships in the 110-meter high hurdles and 300-meter intermediate hurdles on May 7, 2026, highlighting a strong season in hurdle events and multiple relay appearances.
The county titles came as Matuska completed his junior season and prepared to enter his senior year at Southwestern. He won the 110-meter highs in the county meet with a time of 17.24 and the 300-meter low hurdles with a clocking of 43.77.

Matuska's season included a personal-best time of 17.21 in the 110-meter hurdles at the Jokisch-Gradone Invite on May 1, 2026. In the 300-meter hurdles, he placed fifth at the IHSA Gillespie Sectional in 44.23 and was fifth at the South Central Conference Meet in the 300 lows with a time of 46.29.
Matuska is a very capable sprinter. In other events, Matuska ran 11.4 in the 100 meters at a five-way meet at Southwestern. He posted a 25.1 in the 200 meters and placed fifth at the Macoupin County Meet in 25.03. He also ran on the 4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams.

The future looks very bright for this incoming Southwestern senior, so he should be strong in the spring of 2026 on the track.
