Unity Lutheran Christian School to Host Family Orientation on Aug. 5, 2026

The East St. Louis school said the event will give new and returning families a chance to meet teachers, tour classrooms and prepare for the 2026-27 school year.

EAST ST. LOUIS - Unity Lutheran Christian School will welcome new and returning families for its annual Family Orientation at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, allowing families and students to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and prepare for the start of the 2026-27 school year.

The orientation is designed to help families become familiar with classroom routines and expectations while building relationships with teachers before the first day of school. Families will also receive information about ClassDojo, the school's primary communication platform, which provides classroom updates, school announcements and direct communication between families and teachers.

"One thing I wish every parent would do to help their child succeed at school is to be involved in their child's education and be a support to their child's teachers," said Rev. Aaron Dickerson, principal of Unity Lutheran Christian School. "When families and educators work together from the very beginning, students are more confident, more connected and better prepared to succeed throughout the school year."

The orientation reflects the school's commitment to creating strong partnerships between home and school and ensuring every family feels welcomed into the Unity Lutheran community.

"Some of the most important learning begins with relationships," said Ms. Key Key, Pre-K teacher at Unity Lutheran Christian School. "Family Orientation gives us the chance to get to know one another before the school year begins so children see familiar faces, parents feel comfortable asking questions, and we can start building trust together.

During the event, families will:

· Meet classroom teachers and staff.

· Tour classrooms and school facilities.

· Learn classroom procedures and academic expectations.

· Connect to ClassDojo for school and classroom communications.

· Ask questions and prepare for a successful first day of school.

Prospective families are also encouraged to attend. Families interested in enrolling for the 2026-27 school year are encouraged to complete the enrollment process before Aug. 5 so they can participate in Family Orientation and begin building relationships with teachers, staff and other school families before the first day of school.
