Alton Graduate Killed in Oklahoma Shooting

ALTON - An Alton native living in Oklahoma was killed this weekend.

Chamill London, 19, was living in Lawton, Oklahoma, as a soldier with the U.S. Army. London worked in Air and Missile Defense and was preparing for a deployment to Iraq. Her mother, Whittney London, said she was “excited for the journey.”

“She was the most beautiful person you would ever meet,” Whittney London said. “She was genuine, funny, and caring. She was determined to live life to the fullest.”

London and Jabari Roebuck both died in separate shootings on Saturday evening, July 25, 2026, at Timbers Apartments in Lawton.

The Lawton Police Department is investigating the shooting. The department said a suspect identified as Lemondre Wilson was located in his car nearby with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Wilson died at the scene.

In a Facebook post, Whittney London referred to Wilson as Chamill’s husband. She also noted that Chamill was a soldier at Fort Sill Basic Training in Lawton, though this has not been confirmed by the Lawton Police Department or Fort Sill Basic Training.

London was a 2025 Alton High School graduate. Tributes from Alton community members have poured in on Facebook.

Whittney London created a GoFundMe, where she said “a monster…murdered my daughter in cold blood.” She is now asking for financial help for funeral expenses.

“We need to get Chamill home so we all can grieve and lay her to rest,” Whittney wrote. “No mother could ever foresee this happening or prepare financially for a devastating time such as this.”
