The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to deny Stumbaugh’s pretrial release from custody in this case. According to the petition, Stumbaugh “had been drinking and approached the victim” before slapping a water bottle out of their hand, following the victim, and committing the alleged domestic battery, causing the victim to sustain redness and bruising. He reportedly fled the scene when the victim called 911.

In addition to his prior domestic battery conviction, the petition states Stumbaugh was on probation in a 2024 Madison County case in which he is charged with battery against the same victim from this latest case.

The Pontoon Beach Police Department presented the case against Stumbaugh, who currently remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
