Exsted and Woestendick Capture Edwardsville Futures Doubles Crown

ELSAH - Maxwell Exsted of Savage, Minn., and Cooper Woestendick of Olathe, Kan., won the doubles championship over Jack Anthrop of Orlando, Fla., and Noah Zamora of San Diego, while fifth-seeded Ozan Baris of Okenos, Mich. eliminated top seed Johannus Monday of Hull, England, and Vignesh Gogineni of Mason, Ohio won over Bruno Kuzuhawa of Coconut Creek, Fla. in the singles semifinals of the $30,000 Edwardsville Futures tennis tournament, presented by The EGHM Foundation, Saturday afternoon at Principia College in Elsah.

All five matches scheduled for the Edwardsville Tennis Center were moved early Saturday morning to Principia, due to rain that fell in the overnight hours and early on Saturday morning, forcing the move to the indoor courts at the college.

In the singles semifinals, Baris won over Monday in a close three-set match 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, while in the second semifinal, Gogineni took the first set 6-2 and led in the second set 4-1 when Kuzuhawa was forced to retire due to injury. The retirement allowed the unseeded Gogineni to advance to Sunday's final.

In the semifinals of the doubles, Anthrop and Zamora won over the top-seeded team of Ethan Cook of Australia and Leo Vithoontien of Japan 6-2, 6-7 (4-7 in the tiebreak), 10-8 to advance to the final, while in the second semifinal, Exsted and Woestendick defeated the American team of Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin 6-4, 6-3. The final was played later Saturday afternoon, with Exsted and Woestendick winning the championship over Anthrop and Zamora 6-1, 6-1.

Exsted and Woestendick were the third-seeded team, while Anthrop and Zamora were unseeded.

The 15th edition of the Futures, the only professional tennis tournament held in the St. Louis area, reaches its climax on Sunday with the singles final between Baris and Gogineni Sunday morning, Aug. 2, 2026, beginning at 11 a.m., at the Edwardsville Tennis Center.
