Emma Kane, Sophie Grant, And Teagan Monte Swam Well In Eight-and-under Events For Summers Port, Look Forward To Staying In Swimming

EDWARDSVILLE — Emma Kane, Sophie Grant and Teagan Monte, three 8-and-under girls from Summers Port Swim Club, capped their season July 19, 2026, with strong performances at the Southwestern Illinois Swimming Association Championship meet at the Chuck Fruit Aquatic Center on the campus of Edwardsville High School.

Kane finished fourth in the girls 8-and-under 50-yard freestyle, while Monte came in seventh and Grant finished 11th. Grant and Kane then teamed with Sloane Cooper and Addison Rogers to win the 100-yard medley relay.

Kane also finished fourth in the 25-yard freestyle, with Grant placing eighth. Kane later took second in the 25-yard backstroke, while Grant again finished eighth.

Monte placed fifth in the 25-yard breaststroke and sixth in the 25-yard butterfly. Grant and Kane also joined Rogers and Cooper to finish second in the 100-yard freestyle relay.

In a joint interview conducted with the help of Sharks coach Maddie Monroe, Kane, Grant and Monte said they felt they had good seasons and that their best races were in the 25-yard freestyle. They also said they improved as the season went on.

“I feel like I’ve gotten better,” Monte said.

“I think I’ve gotten better at freestyle,” Grant said.

“I think I’ve gotten better at backstroke,” Kane said.
