Man Dies After Morning Crash In Belleville Intersection
Police say the 44-year-old man died after being taken to a local hospital following a two-vehicle collision Monday morning at Old St. Louis Road and Westfield Plaza Drive.
BELLEVILLE - A 44-year-old man died after being taken to a local hospital following a traffic accident at Old St. Louis Road and Westfield Plaza Drive, the Belleville Police Department said on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026.

The department said the man “succumbed to his injuries and passed away” after the crash. The Belleville Police Department and the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Belleville Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at Old St. Louis Road and Westfield Plaza Drive at about 6:10 a.m. on Monday. Police said two drivers and a juvenile passenger were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries.
The St. Clair County Coroner's Office identified the 44-year-old as Jerome Tilmon of East St. Louis. He was pronounced dead at Belleville Memorial Hospital.
Illinois State Police assisted with reconstruction.
“Out of respect for the family, no further information will be released at this time,” the department said. “Our thoughts and condolences are with the victim’s family and loved ones.”
