Elderly Passenger Dies After Belleville Two-Vehicle Crash
An 88-year-old woman died from injuries after a Monday morning collision at South Illinois Street and South Belt. Police say three people were taken to local hospitals.
BELLEVILLE - An 88-year-old woman died after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning, Aug. 17, 2026, at the intersection of South Illinois Street and South Belt, where Belleville Police responded at about 9:04 a.m. Aug. 17, 2026, following a report of a traffic accident.

The woman was a passenger in one of the vehicles and later died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to the Belleville Police Department.
Three people involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.
Belleville Police said they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” the department said.
Police said no additional information will be released at this time out of respect for the family.
