Boda is accused of recklessly discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle while in close proximity to the victim on Aug. 18, 2026. His possession of the weapon, a shotgun, was unlawful given his prior Madison County conviction of aggravated driving under the influence in 2022.
Boda also reportedly resisted arrest by an Alton Police officer by fleeing from the officer on foot and refusing to obey lawful orders on the same date.
According to the state’s petition to deny Boda’s pretrial release from custody, the victim reported receiving threatening messages from Boda prior to the incident, including one message in which Boda allegedly referenced “having a shotgun.”
While standing near the street, the victim reported seeing a vehicle pass by and hearing a loud noise coming from the vehicle, “believed to be gunshots.”
“Video showed that a single gunshot was fired from the passing vehicle, which was confirmed to be owned by a witness, who gave a statement to police, saying that defendant was the passenger who discharged the firearm from the vehicle,” the petition states.
The Alton Police Department presented the case against Boda, who currently remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
