Joe Stephan was four for four with extra-point conversions. Croft broke away runs of 57 and 40 yards. Quarterback Toby Eberlin did a great job and took command of the game, Explorers' Coach Eric Dickerson said. He also ran in a two-point conversion after a touchdown.

"We were very excited for our guys and coaching staff for the opening win," Dickerson said. "They worked hard all summer and got results in the opener."

Coach Dickerson said the Explorers went through some "first-night jitters," but the team settled in and improved as the game went on.

Marquette resumes action in week two with a 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, home game at Public School Stadium at Red Bud. The game will be live on Riverbender.com.
