Carlinville dominated defensively to shut out Gillespie 56-0 in a football game Friday night, forcing five fumbles and converting four into touchdowns.

Carlinville improved to 1-1. Gillespie also is 1-1.

Carlinville finished with 378 total yards, including 312 rushing and 66 passing. Gillespie had 46 total yards, with minus-6 rushing and 52 passing.

Carlinville held Gillespie to minus-1 total yard in the first half.

Joel White carried the ball 20 times for 132 yards, with three rushing touchdowns and one reception for a TD.

For Gillespie, Zaydin Burch had 13 carries for 8 yards and Frankie Montoro had eight carries for 15 yards. Gage Schoen completed 2 of 4 passes for 52 yards with no interceptions.

Dane Diesselhorst had one catch for 41 yards.

Carrollton Dominates Unity/Seymour 48-6

In another game, Carrollton defeated Unity/Seymour 48-6 in a nonleague matchup Friday. The Hawks are 1-1 and next travel to face Greenfield/Northwestern in a Western Illinois Valley South game Friday, Sept. 4.

Unity/Seymour fell to 0-2 and will host Beardstown in a Western Illinois Valley North game Friday, Sept. 4. Beardstown is 1-1 after a 54-7 nonleague loss to Calhoun/Brussels.

Greenfield-Northwestern Suffers Narrow Loss To Camp Point Central

Greenfield-Northwestern suffered a narrow 15-13 loss to Camp Point Central on Friday night.

Carter Murphy carried 10 times for 32 yards and a score. Ty Bowman had five carries for 29 yards.

Bowman was 12 of 21 passing for 110 yards and a score. Murphy caught five passes for 41 yards and Hoots had four catches for 22 yards.
