Driver To Be Cited After Pedestrian Struck at Main and Vandalia in Edwardsville

Edwardsville runner continues five miles after vehicle strike.

EDWARDSVILLE — A driver will be cited for disobeying a traffic control device after a vehicle struck a pedestrian crossing Main and Vandalia streets in Edwardsville around 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, city officials said.

City of Edwardsville spokesperson Cathy A. Hensley said Edwardsville Police officers responded to the area but did not locate anything related to the incident. Officers did see a group of runners in the area, Hensley said.

Around 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, the pedestrian involved went to the Police Department to report the incident. He refused medical attention and told police he was able to continue an approximately 5-mile run after the incident happened.

The officer handling the accident identified the vehicle involved and will cite the driver, Hensley said.

No injuries or damage were reported.
